I always believe that we parents should give our boys and girls a healthy childhood, including physical and mental health. However, my little boy, only 10 years old, has got myopia. I blamed myself for a long time since if I had cared for him enough, he could have avoided becoming short-sighted. So today I share the tips suggested by the doctor with all of you, hoping that you can keep your children's eyes in healthy.

My little boy, only ten years old, is becoming a reserve of the huge number of myopia army. Yesterday I took him to see the doctor because of the poor eyesight, where I saw many worried parents like me. We all sought his advice on the same topic: how can children avoid myopia.

According to the doctor's words, myopia is not a kind of disease to some extent. It is a symbol of eyes' self-adjustment. So in order to keep the eyesight, we'd better take some adjusting measures rather than use medical treatments on children since they are in growth and can't stand side effect of drugs which will do harm to their bodies as well as the delicate eyes. Well, how on earth can children keep eyes healthy? The doctor listed the following aspects.

First, take notice of some primary aspects. Generally speaking, children at the age between seven and seventeen years old are easy to catch poor eyesight, especially the age between ten and fifteen. However, as for a student at the age of this range, there are various elements that can influence the eyesight, such as study environment, bad eye-using habits, short of nutrient and so on.

Second, have a rest for ten to fifteen minutes every forty-five minutes. Even the machines need some rest after long-time working, let alone our eyes. Keeping the eyes working all the time could result nothing but short sight. Two simply but effective ways are as follows: 1. Looking in the distance 2. Doing some eye exercises Both of the two ways will ease the eyes from excess pressure.

Third, make sure you use your eyes under the right light. Light is one of the most important elements that affect the eyesight. Either too strong or too weak light does harm the eyes. So please make sure that your children do not read books in the sun or in dim light.

Forth, sitting properly when reading books The desk and chair should be in harmonious proposition. The distance between eyes and books should be long enough, usually thirty centimeters. Reading in bed or bus will add more pressure and change the normal shape of eye balls.

Fifth, take some exercise and keep a well-balanced diet Taking some exercises is necessary for the health of eyes. For instance, stick to do morning exercises or take a walk after supper. Besides, only a balanced diet is a healthy diet. So if you want to keep your children's eyes health, a well-balanced diet is indispensable.
Last but not least, buy glasses in professional shops if your children are near-sighted.

If the information of you children's eyes is not measured exactly, a wrong degree for example, then it could do great harm to eyes. So make sure that your children's eyeglasses are bought in professional shop.

In a nutshell, if your boys and girls are not near-sighted, take some effective actions to keep them away from becoming short-sighted; if they are shortsighted, get them a pair of high-quality glasses from a professional shop to avoid further worsening.

If your children are slightly nearsighted but still need a pair of glasses, buy glasses in a professional shop.
